Epic is used to describe something that is beyond description: epic journey, epic novel, epic movie.

That's completely retarded. By that logic, there is no meaning, communication, or connection, we are all just "doing our own thing".

And "epic" means beyond the usual or ordinary in size or scope, not indescribable. Read an epic poem...plenty of description, going on and on, usually. Never really heard of an epic tale where the author was at a loss for words.
